
STAR 1-2
Star 1 is the first level of the STARskate program, a learn to figure skate program unique to Canada. It is the progression into the sport of figure skating after completing the Canskate/Rising Stars levels. Star 2 is the second level of the STARskate program and is the progression after completing all of the STAR 1 assessment levels.
For both the Star 1 & 2 levels, participants are taught in group lesson format by NCCP Certified Professional Coaches trained specifically in teaching the mechanics and proper technique of figure skating in a progressive and sequential manner. Skaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada assessments through the national standardized testing system. They will also have the opportunity to start to attend Skate Canada sanctioned competitions were they will compete to a standard earning ribbons and certificates. The Star 1 & 2 programs consist of both on-ice and off-ice portions to ensure that the skaters are being fully developed (participation in both portions is mandatory). It is recommended that STAR 1 skaters participate a minimum of 2 days out of the 3 day full membership and STAR 2 skaters participate a minimum of 2 days out of the 4 day full membership to achieve developmental goals.
STAR 3-4
STAR 3-4 are the next levels of the STARskate program. It is the progression after completing all of the STAR 2 tests levels. Participants are taught in group, semi-private or private lesson format by NCCP Certified Professional Coach/Coaches of their choosing. Lessons are arranged directly with the Coach/Coaches. Lesson fees will be billed directly to parents/guardians from the coach and are not included in your registration. As in the STAR 1-2 levels, skaters have the opportunity to continue taking assessments through the national standardized testing system offered by Skate Canada and also the opportunity to attend sanctioned competitions were they will continue to compete to a standard earning ribbons and certificates in STAR 3 and begin to be ranked and earn individual placements in their level in Star 4. The STAR 3-4 program consists of both on-ice and off-ice portions (participation in both portions is mandatory) and it is recommended that skaters participate a minimum of 3 days out of the 5 day full membership to achieve developmental goals.
